GENERAL OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the After School Program Director, the After School Program (“ASP”) Counselor will
provide homework assistance to students in the ASP, and will lead engaging academic and enrichment activities
with a group of 10 to 15 students. The ASP Counselor will provide opportunities for students to develop &
strengthen academic and social skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist children with homework assignments daily
• Lead organized learning activities for students to develop and strengthen their academic and social skills
• Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events
• As needed, differentiate lessons & activities for students with various abilities
• As needed, review program work plans with Director for effective program implementation
• Inspect the school site & equipment for potential safety hazards; taking corrective action to prevent injuries
• Interact professionally and appropriately with parents and staff
• Participate in mandatory staff meetings and on-going training opportunities
• Perform related office duties as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITY/MEASUREMENTS
1) All homework must be completed and must be checked daily for every child in counselor’s group
2) Ability to maintain order and ensure safety of all children in group
3) Demonstrate leadership capabilities and organize team projects
4) Exemplary attendance and presence at monthly staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Juniors or Seniors, First and Second Year College Students
• Excellent Math, English and Communication Skills
• Minimum 1 year experience working with diverse youth in an organized setting
• Ability to play and teach chess
• Expertise in Computers and Technology is a plus
• Health Screening/TB Clearance
• Background/Fingerprint Clearance
