Rensselaer Admissions, in coordination with members of Rensselaer’s Black and Latinx communities, invites academically talented underrepresented seniors to apply for Science, Technology, and Arts at Rensselaer (STAR). The STAR Program allows high school seniors to stay on campus, attend a mock class, and explore a day in the life of a Rensselaer student.
STAR begins Friday afternoon with a lunch reception and concludes Saturday at the close of the Fall Open House. Activities include:
- Academic exploration
- Interactive leadership activity
- Campus tour
- Laboratory tours
- Student panel
- Lodging and meals with current students
Travel assistance may be provided for students who present financial hardship. Requests must be submitted through the STAR application. Pick-up can be scheduled for students arriving via train, plane, or bus.
Students may apply online by September 20 to participate in the STAR Program. A copy of the students’ high school transcript is required to complete the STAR application prior to the deadline date of September 20.
Students accepted to participate in the STAR Program will receive a confirmation email from Rensselaer. At the end of the event, all participants will receive an official letter confirming their participation. Students are encouraged to show the letter to Ms. Abrams and your college professor so the absence is recognized as an official college visit.
